We learnt that armistice day Is a way to remember people from the returned services.

We are also learning about the time and date that they signed the treaty that ended the war (time: 11 am) (date:11th)

I learnt that the first world war started in 1914 and ended in 1918.

Nikaia and Mienke Bouncability

Last term we were learning about science. Our first topic was bounce-ability.

What you do is you drop the ball from the roller then measure how high it goes. Then the next day you will do the same and see if there’s a different.

Our question:

How does the type of ball affect how high it bounces?

What do you want to find out?

I would like to find out what is on the outside of the balls that make the balls bounce high?

Why does the ball have a shell that can make it bounce?

I want to find out if there’s a certain size to make the ball bounce?

What are the weight of the balls

Draw a labelled diagram.

Basketball Tennis Ball What happened
Tuesday 100cm 31cm It was windy, and we did not have enough rollers.
Wednesday 91cm 88cm It was sunny and the basketball was flat.
Monday 74cm 36cm It was cold and there were not enough rulers and balls and the basketball was not pumped up.

What are you going to do?

We will bounce a basketball outside

Surfaces is concrete, playground, / basketball, tennis ball, soccer ball, netball, small ball and hockey ball / ground surface that will change

What do you think will happen?

We think that the smaller the ball the higher it goes.

We think that the bigger its is the less it bounces.

Everyone thinks that different sizes of the ball can count how high or how low goes.

What things will you keep the same?

We always used the same surfaces.

The way we dropped it was always the same.

What did you find out?

That the basketball bounces higher than the tennis ball.

The Wiki o Te Reo Maori
